Lyrica Pregabalin Interactions

Pregabalin tablets interact with a number of medicines and there are certain medical conditions in which this medicine should be avoided. Some of the medicines with which it interacts are:-

• CNS depressants like Lorazepam, or Oxycodone.
• Barbiturates such as Butabarbital, or Phenobarbital.
• Benzodiazepines like Alprazolam, or Clonazepam.
• Medications to treat Parkinson’s disease like Entacapone, or Tolcapone.
• Anti-diabetic medicines like Metmorfin, Pioglitazone, or Rosiglitazone.
• Tricyclic antidepressants like Amitriptyline, or Imipramine.
• Medicines for pain such as Morphine, or Codeine.
• SSRIs like Citalopram, Escitalopram, or Sertraline.
• SNRIs such as Cymbalta [Duloxetine].
• Phenothiazines used to treat some mental disorders and/or for nausea and vomiting like Prochlorperazine, or Thioridazine.
• Psychoactive drugs like Trazodone.
• NSAIDs such as Celebrex.
• Clonazepam that is used as an anti-convulsant, muscle relaxant and to relieve anxiety.
• Diuretics like Furosemide.
• Metoprolol, used for various cardiovascular disorders and hypertension.
• Medicines used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, and gastrointestinal ulcers like Nexium, or Omeprazole.
• Corticosteroids like Prednisone.
• Hypolipidemics like Simvastatin.
• Analgesics such as Tramadol.

If Pioglitazone or Rosiglitazone are taken concomitantly with this medicine, it can increase the sedative effect of this medicine, cause unusual gain in weight, lead to edema, and probably heart failure.

Alcohol should not be taken with Lyrica, as it will increase drowsiness.
